Pray for Keram (pseudonym), a Christian in Central Asia who was detained without explanation by the local police.
According to Keram’s wife, the arrest occurred the day after a secret house church meeting was held in one of the villages.
In late February, Keram held a house church meeting in a village in his region, attended by Christian believers who were former Muslims in the area.
Many of the local believers practice Christianity in secret, as the attitude of local Muslims toward those who have converted from Islam is very negative and even aggressive.
Moreover, local authorities are extremely strict in hindering Muslims’ conversion to Christianity. As a result, Christian believers are in fear for their lives, families, and safety.
House church gatherings in this area are held secretly, as they are considered as “illegal religious meetings” and obtaining official registration for small groups of believers is impossible in practice.
Keram is one of the ministry leaders in the region, responsible for house churches in several villages. On the eve of his arrest, Keram visited one of these small groups of believers from the underground house church and held a meeting where he was preaching.
The following day, he was detained by local police and at time of writing, remains at the police station. The police is not giving any information to his family or friends. His wife, Sabira, and their three children are very worried, as they don’t know what awaits them and their father.
Where do Christians experience the
most persecution?
Pray
1. Pray for Keram’s safety and quick relase
2. Pray for the safety of his family, and for their comfort
3. Pray for all the local believers for whom Keram is a ministry leader, that they would be given the freedom to worship without fear of arrest.
